Soggy Saturday

Saturday was a rainy but fun-filled day! Connor, Otto and I all squished into the recliner for some morning cuddles...

Then...our friend LEVI turned TWO! We got to celebrate with him and some of his family and friends. Just before this picture I had traded with Jonathan (Connor for Kylie) and he said, "Whoa! I could handle this!" Hahaha - I think we need to have a girl next. Kylie is like a feather compared to Connor!
Birthday boy! Balloons!
Jonathan went out to help with some rainy hot dog grilling and came in looking like this...he didn't even know he had been bitten! He's probably not going to appreciate that I blogged this picture, but I had to record one of the biggest bugbites in history. :)
Birthday boy with his cake and balloons. Everything was perfectly VeggieTales themed. His grandmother made him some special characters (I think they are squash, named Jimmy and Jerry?) - she painted them on real gourds!
Here he is with mom and dad! You can see his awesome cake a little better in this picture too. Oh and all of the Brazilian chocolate and coconut balls around the cake - delicious! Daniela said that in Brazil, everyone sings the birthday song and then all of those little balls are pounced upon and gone instantly! That's a good kind of tradition!
We sang "Happy Birthday" in English....
...and then in Portuguese!
I tried to get a picture of the boys together but it was post present-opening and Levi was not too interested in my picture taking antics.
...apparently neither was Connor. Oh well!
We had a wonderful time. Happy Birthday, big boy Levi!!!

That night we got to have dinner with some more fun friends!
Connor was very happy with Justin. He was also happy to knock over his M&M jar about 30 seconds later (Sorry, Justin!)
Then he got some bounces and drools in with Hilga...I mean Lauren! ;) You'll have to ask her if you'd like to know that whole story. Thanks for letting us hang out and eat with you, Kenleys!

Last but certainly not least, TODAY (3/27) is Connor's Aunt Kelly's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Aunt Kelly, we love you!!!

The Joys of Tupperware

I get a lot of baby e-mails. Most of them are because I signed up to win things (silly, since I haven't won anything) but some are actually helpful - like a couple that went week by week with information on pregnancy, and then week by week in baby's development. It seemed like a common theme for C's age was, "Babies at this age like to dump things out and overturn things." Okie dokes! Got some tupperware out, filled it up with small toys - C figured that one out in a jiffy. The least surprising thing was that - even more than dumping the toys out of the tupperware - C was in love with licking the tupperware itself...

Laura has named this is "Zoolander" look - I haven't caught one on camera in months!
Annnnnnnnd back to the toes!
First food other than cereal? Carrots! We went with the orange bowl and orange spoon too.
Not all too keen on the carrots...we'll keep trying! :)

Jump, Jump, Jumperoo!

On Thursday morning, Daniela was using her brilliant bilingual skills to interpret for a friend, so we got to hang out with Levi for a while! The Jones' let us borrow their jumperoo, and it was Connor's first morning trying it out.

"Hi Levi!"
"Whatcha doin'?" Precious!
We turned on some tunes and Levi was showing off his percussion skills (another toy from a friend - thanks Dana!).
Lovin' the jumperoo. Jonathan said that this oufit (particularly the light blue pants - thanks Care!) reminds him of the snowbirds in Florida! :)
Daniela told me that the "fly" was Levi's favorite toy to gnaw on when he used the jumperoo. Sure enough, Connor found it right away and got it immediately to his mouth!
Whoa!
Mmmmm....

We braved a [very short] walk with baby, toddler, and crazy dog to the swings. I know you can barely see C with his hat but I'm pretty nervous about what the sun will do to him in a matter of minutes. His doctor was noticing how fair and sensitive his skin is (like red marks just from Jonathan holding him in his diaper while the Dr. was checking him out) and said that we might have to try a few different baby sunscreens because they might irritate him. Any suggestions?
Whee!

After the swings, we parked the stroller in the shade and Levi and I tried out the big slide a few times. Obviously I did not get a pic of that! Levi spent a ton of time playing with Otto (which is good - since the next day I spent hours cutting his hair and he hates it!).

The best part of the morning was when Connor was napping and started making some little noises through the monitor. Levi looked up from his snack wide-eyed, pointed at the monitor and said, "Monkey!" Hehehehe. :)

By the way, TODAY (3/26) is Levi's 2nd birthday! Happy Birthday Levi! More on that later!

College Visit

Laura's main reason for visiting last weekend was an open house at one of the law schools where she was accepted! This one happens to be within driving distance of us. (Not that we're bugging her to go there or anything!). Connor and I hung out in the lounge and the law library (good place for a 6 month old, right?) while Laura went to a class. The law profs all came over to see him and we heard many choruses of, "The students get younger every year, but this is ridiculous!" Well...we all know what a smarty he is! :)

We got to take a tour of the law school (with some tricky stroller maneuvering) and some of the campus and we ate lunch with Laura and the other accepted students. Connor was pretty tuckered out by then, so I was thankful to find a quiet, breezy balcony with ROCKING CHAIRS while Aunt Lola went into a question-and-answer session.

Campus was in full bloom and it was beautiful! Lots of students were outside...we got there in sweaters and left sweating - it was in the 80's! There were some incredible Magnolia (I think) trees with really gnarled trunks/branches. Laura and Connor tried out a seat in one.
Here's a peek at campus. Laura said that WF has the same architect as Bucknell, so many of the buildings (like the chapel) look almost identical. When we were walking around in the warm sun she said, "I should've gone here for undergrad!" (DISCLAIMER: She loves Bucknell, she was simply referring to the weather!)
Pretty blossoming trees!

"Spring Break"
(for Otto too, apparently)

...and Connor...
Poor thing with his bandaids after going to the Doc!
He needed some serious R&R!

AND....TODAY (3/24) is Connor's Uncle Dan's birthday! HAPPY 26th, UNCLE DAN! We hope you have a fun day and that we will get to see you soon! :)

St. Patrick's Day Fun!

One of the best part's of or St. Patty's Day was a trip to one of Connor's favorite places...the airport! We got to go pick up Aunt Laura!
I got this onesie on clearance at TJMaxx last May, way before my sweet "Irish" boy was born! Jonathan and I both have a lot of Irish roots, so our house has been decorated for this holiday all month and we've been wearing and using and eating as much green as possible! :)
Of course, Connor has his very special shamrock sleeper his grandparents brought from Ireland - so as soon as outfit #1 was spit up on (as we knew was likely to happen), we changed to outfit #2! Connor was SO interested in Laura's striped socks - she would wave her foot all around and he was mesmerized!
I whipped up some of my usual sourdough rolls, but turned them GREEN (Lurline! Have you ever had green ones?!)

As always - our traditional St. Patty's Day Irish dinner - Corned Beef and Cabbage! Yum! I used fingerling potatoes this year and they are colorful - the dark ones are PURPLE on the inside! On Saturday morning Jonathan turned our leftovers into DELICIOUS corned beef hash - one of his very favorite things to eat!
Well, at the end of the night we all changed our clothes because it was time to cheer on the BISON! Bucknell made it into the NCAA tournament but had to play quite a powerhouse - so although Laura and I had high hopes for them to win a few games on our brackets, they didn't make it through. We had fun cheering, though!
One last important thing! TODAY (3/23) is Connor's Nana's (Jonathan's mom's) BIRTHDAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NANA!
We hope you have a great day!!!
