4 Generations and a Whole Lotta Pics!

Sunday afternoon, 10/10/10, I tried to perfectly time when Connor would eat so that he and I could make the trek out to the airport to pick up his auntie SAS and his GREAT-Grandaddy. On the way there, I passed one of those big electronic signs that was flashing "Stadium Traffic, Expect Heavy Delays" - hello, hyperventilating! Not really...but c'mon...did I KNOW that there was an NFL team in our city? Yes. Did I KNOW that the route to the airport passes by the stadium? Well...yes. Did I KNOW that there was a home game in that giant stadium we were passing? Um...it was on my tv right up until we left. Thank God the game was still going on and we didn't actually hit traffic - we did make it and were delighted to see their smiling faces!






That night Grandaddy offered to take us all out and said that he was craving ribs - so Connor had his first restaurant outing at Texas Roadhouse! SAS was the only one smart enough to bring a camera, so here's one of Connor and me with Jonathan's thumb!

The night before they came (Saturday) - Connor had what Jonathan describes as one of the top 3 worst nights of sleep since we got home from the hospital. We were concerned that he would keep Grandaddy and Sarahann up all night, but Sunday night he went down at 11 and didn't wake up to nurse until 3:30! It was his longest sleep so far and he went back to sleep again until about 7:15, which was awesome. Aren't babies always at their sweetest when grandparents ( or aunts and uncles) and great-grands are around???

Most of our Columbus Day was spent relaxing and just enjoying our visitors - and they definitely enjoyed being with sweet baby boy! Otto enjoyed a little extra attention too - he's been craving it.





Grandaddy and SAS (& soon-to-be Uncle Jay!) showered their new great-grandson/nephew with some gifts - here's an excellent example - and true, of course!



This morning we got to have breakfast all together before Jonathan headed to work. Here's some fun guys we know in their PJ's!




Then we did a little strolling in the 85 degree "summer extension" weather. Here's Connor peeking out from his shaded ride, and some of our neighborhood geese making their move (at least it feels a little like fall!).





We were so sad when it came time for our visitors to leave...here were the last few minutes of snuggle time...

3 Weeks!

Hi guys! Oh hold on, I'm hungry - gotta go yell for mom!



Okay I'm back. Today I am three weeks old! Wait a second, poopy diaper - gotta yell for mom and dad!

So what have I been doing in my third week of life, you ask? I will tell you right after I scream for a quick snack...

Mom says I am growing and growing! This has been our first full week at home on our own. We have gotten to have a few visitors (I met Mandy and saw Daniela and Levi for a little bit!), but no one has spent the night this week. It has been good but I think Mom and Dad are pretty tired. Dad had to be at church for things in the evening on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, so those were pretty long days for Mom and me! We have been making sure to get outside every day in the nice weather. I get to ride in the stroller, and Otto has been coming with us too. Sometimes I show Mom how strong my legs are by kicking off my blankets and making her trip over them as we're strolling along! On Thursday night Dad and Mom BOTH took a long walk with Otto and me. We saw Kelly and Addison at the soccer fields, and then we saw all of the Kenleys because we walked all the way to their house! Our whole walk took us an hour and a half...here I am getting my thumb!



Friday night we played Euchre with the Chaneys...in the best of three games, the moms were victorious! I slept in Phil and Koral's arms through most of the games - what a great first night of cards. :)

Saturday was the Fall Festival in our neighborhood. I got to snooze i my carrier while Mom and Dad walked around - even though there was loud music, tons of people, and even cheerleaders doing their routine! Mom was very tempted to climb the climbing wall there, but she thought that she might get in trouble with her doctor so she stayed on the ground. She thinks my strong legs are going to make me a great climber!

It is getting very warm again in NC, so we came home to cool off and have a rest. Mom put me in a 0-3 month outfit because she said I'm bursting out of the newborn size outfits and she already has to put them away! What do you think? I'm super handsome? Oh, thanks!



By the way, on Thursday my umbilical cord stump FINALLY fell off and Mom and Dad were so happy - since Mom had been stressed about it and didn't want to even buckle me into my carseat! Today we are going to pick up my Great-Grandaddy and Auntie SAS at the aiport, and it will be my first car ride since last week. I can't wait to meet them!

Phew...I have worked up an appetite after all this blogging...I'll check in with you all on my one month birthday!

27 Burp Cloths

This week I turned 27. As a mom. It was a different birthday for sure, but what a great gift I had already gotten - just a couple weeks early!



Here are some ways I was blessed on my 27th:

*Chicken Divan and Apple Crisp made by mom when my parents were here*
*An insulated casserole carrier that I've wanted for a long time and candy corn from Connor*
*Jonathan taking a crying boy downstairs for an hour and a half so that I could have extra morning sleep after a long night*
*Three pictures from our wedding day in a beautiful frame from my husband*
*Gifts and cards in the mail from sweet family and friends - isn't one of the best feelings to open your mailbox and have something other than bills and junk? Or to have the UPS/FedEx truck stop in front of your house???*
*Songs over the phone and in my voicemail box*
*Dark chocolate cupcakes WITH sprinkles brought over by Daniela and Levi*
*Panera for breakfast and Jimmy Johns for lunch*
*An e-mail inbox flooded by facebook birthday wishes*
*Day 17 with my son*

Wow. I bet I could think of a few more too. Thanks to all of you who have blessed my 27 years!

You know you're a new mom if...

...some days the first opportunity to brush your teeth is 4pm

...a shower trumps an extra 15 minutes of sleep, or an extra 15 minutes of sleep trumps a shower

...you become very good at typing, washing, carrying, and all sorts of things with one hand

...you welcome a little break while someone else holds your baby, but then miss him in your arms

...you would do anything to stop your sweet child's crying, including just crying along with them

...your first solo walk with your baby in the stroller and your dog on a leash (and actually managing to get shoes on yourself) is like making a trip to the moon

...you want so badly to make phone calls and keep family and friends updated (ahem), but nursing, changing, and baby sleeping ON you don't make that very easy

...your pjs are the newest fashion statement

...you seriously debate moving and setting baby down or if you can hold it just a little bit longer

...your camera is permanently attached to your wrist

...you suddenly think that staring is perfectly acceptable and could look at that little face/fingers/toes/belly for hours and hours

This might become a weekly post. :) Would I leave you without a Connor picture? NEVER!

2 Weeks!

Okay - so I'm a day late, but I'm only 2 weeks old and I'm just busy with other things! Besides, my momma says that we had a stressful day yesterday.

We were up early to take my grandparents to the airport. I did just fine but Mom and I were very sad to see them go. We know we'll get to see them again soon though! We went a little bit the wrong way and saw a GIANT cargo plane, the biggest one that has ever landed in Charlotte! It was my first trip to the airport, but Mom says that soon enough I will get to fly. She thinks that is pretty cool because she never went on a plane until she was a junior in high school.

Well, after we made it home, we thought it would be a relaxing day - but then I started fussing to let Mom know that something was not quite right. It took her a little bit but then she saw it - my umbilical cord stump that has NOT fallen off yet had gotten turned and had bled - talk about a way to freak out my Mom! So while I screamed she had to call the doctor's office and repeat her phone number about 15 times so that the nurse could call back and ask her a million questions. I guess it will be okay, Mom has just been airing out my tummy and has to just keep taking care of it until it falls off!

On Saturday I tried out my infant carrier - thanks Marla and Fraser! There was a huge garage sale for our neighborhood so we decided to take a big walk to check it out. I like to be snuggled up to Momma so I slept most of the time. We got to see some church friends, the Sprinkles, and tried out an old piano at another place - but Dad said it looked like it had been eaten up by mice on the inside. All in all, we didn't get anything, but had a nice sunny two hour walk!

Mom thinks I'm getting pretty big and keeps telling me not to try to match up to my uncle Dan and uncle Will. I heard my Marmee telling Mom that they had both reached 20 pounds by 6 months!

A quick note from mom...

We got some sweet monogrammed things from our friend Carolyn in VA - this is not all of them (nor have I been able to post all the sweet things we've been given) but I caught a couple of cute ones!

Alright people - I have two videos to put up and I can choose the file and it is an AVI format and then blogger tells me it's uploading for about 100 years - someone help so we can have Connor videos!

Connor had his first real babysitters today - he stayed with his grandparents while Jonathan took me out to lunch - it was a great little time together but we agreed it felt strange to leave the house without our baby boy!

My sister is gearing up for the LSAT's next weekend and we know that she is going to do great! Here's a picture just for her - Connor representing DG!

While Connor was snoozing we took a few pics of some gifts from his Twichell grandparents - today we're thinking they might be called "Marmee and Papa" but it is still unsure. He is totally ready to support the Orangemen and the Yankees, and got some gear from Ireland too! Actually...he has a growing collection of Yankees and Cuse apparel, including some that belonged to Daddy and Mommy when they were babies!
