6 Months!

Hello lovies! Connor here. I wanted to tell you all that on Saturday, I turned ONE-HALF YEAR OLD! 6 months! Can you believe it? I know, I can hardly stand it...

I have lots to tell you because we had a busy week with my Auntie Laura. I'll stick to just the weekend and let Mom tell you about some other things.

The morning of my half-birthday, we got to go to a kite festival! Auntie Laura's favorite animal is the penguin, so of course we picked the kite with penguins.

Mommy and Daddy also brought the kite that they flew on their honeymoon. Daddy had repaired the broken part, but the new dowel only lasted a few minutes before snapping. Time to find something stronger!

Momma and I took a fire engine ride. There were some wild boys next to us. The siren was loud and surprised me at first, but then it was a fun bumpy ride all around the kites!
Engine Number 9? Something tells me there's a song about that...

When we were on our way back home, we saw at least 8 turtles out sunning. Momma keeps trying to get good pictures of them, but they hop into the water as soon as she gets close with Otto and me! She caught these two before they hopped in. Look at all of the petals in the water from the trees!
Auntie Laura snuck up on this particularly defiant one. We think it must be the one Daddy saved from being run over just before I was born.
Later that afternoon, Dad put my bumbo seat up ON THE TABLE! I did not know what was going on. Momma kept saying, "Spooooooon! Yummmyyyyyyyyy." Who knows what that's all about. Apparently I had some sort of cereal but it mostly tasted like milk to me!
Dad, I can sit up just fine by myself! Just because I was lunging for the spoon doesn't mean you should hold me back! :)

On Sunday we cheered for SU, who Mom had winning on her NCAA tournament bracket (apparently she ALWAYS does!). Well, they lost. Sigh. I was dressed and ready! I guess it's time to get out my Yankees gear.

Sunday night was our children's musical at church. There were so many fun lights and colors, and they did awesome singing!

Today we saw my sweet doctor. I was a STAR at my appointment and looking healthy (Mom and Dad say, "Thank God!").

Length: 27 inches (75th %)

Weight: 18lbs. 10ozs. (75th %)

Head Circumference: 43cm (50th %)

My doctor and Momma were talking about FOOD. Sounds like something good may be coming up!

Days of Month 5

Thanks for the fish, cousin Katy and cousin Kirby (who by the way had a beautiful baby boy earlier this month, Connor's new cousin Charlie! I can't wait to show you all a picture!).

Swingin' Into Spring

It was a beautiful morning (though we were all tired after an unexpected middle of the night feeding then diaper change and the TIME CHANGE) for church and a lazy "afternoon". Jonathan turns around so quick to get back to church on Sundays that we should call it a lazy "hour". We love it though...always getting to sneak in a little restful family time!

Not long after moving into our neighborhood, while I was still pregnant, we discovered a little park not far from our house. We have been itching to let C try out the swing and decided we had just enough time today. Of course - he was loving life!

We could only push him a few inches this time. I brought a blanket to prop him up but there was still quite a bit of space. Not like our little chubster was going to slide through the leg holes or anything...

We all wore our green today - anticipating St. Patrick's Day on Thursday! I'm sure you've noticed the little green makeover I gave my blog. :)
Trying to get Otto in - technically C weighs more but Otto is much bulkier and hairier!
So happy! (Otto was going off to check out some sort of leftover eggroll that someone had left...hahaha)
I'm sure we will visit this spot many more times on these nice days! Happy "Spring Ahead", everyone!

Birthday Visits!

The last weekend of February held both my darling husband and our soon-to-be brother-in-law's birthdays. Matthew came down that Saturday for an afternoon of brother golfing. At about 3:45am Sunday, Sarahann and Jay came rolling into town in Grandaddy's caddy - their first stop on quite a drive! A couple hours after they arrived, everyone was up and ready for church - Jay was even subbing in the orchestra on the guitar. All of the pictures in this post are courtesy of my SIL, SAS!

SAS was a perfect mommy substitute while I sang in choir - she was in the front row with Connor and I got to peek down at them now and then!
I don't know why this one is little (from the phone instead of the camera?), but there's the choir!
After church Jonathan got his choice of birthday lunch - a place that is not so healthy and I usually say "no, thank you" to...Five Guys burgers and fries! I have to admit, it is pretty tasty. We didn't leave Connor in the car...I'm just blocking him in this picture...whoops.

We went home and the birthday boys opened some presents. This was Connor's gift to his daddy...

Popcorn Popping

Connor is not crawling or anything yet - but he's pretty good at getting where he wants to go! This picture was just after he turned 5 months - he managed to turn on his stomach with his head at the opposite end of the crib from where he started... I shouldn't even bother putting a blanket on the floor for him anymore either - he just rolls across the room!

Spring is bringing lots of pretty things to see while we stroll! These white blossoming trees are everywhere and SO beautiful...but they stink! We had them in NY and VA too - I mean they smell like dead fish....hahaha. I also am suddenly having swollen itchy eyes - darn you, pretty trees!

We have been strolling and singing a song that I used to do with my 1st graders: "I looked out the window and what did I see? Popcorn popping on the apricot tree! Spring has brought me such a nice surprise, popcorn popping right before my eyes! I could take an armful and make a treat, a popcorn ball that would smell so sweet [NOT!]. It wasn't really so - but it seemed to be - popcorn popping on the apricot tree!"

These aren't apricot trees, but same idea! I always taught the song to 1st graders and gave them the mission of looking for trees like the song talked about. It was fun to see them so excited the next class, telling me where they had seen them during the days between classes!
Cutie boy! It has been warm enough and mostly dry enough to walk just about every day in March.
One day we saw 11 turtles, plenty of Canadian geese and tons of goose poop, lots of ducks - and Connor's special duck! I say that jokingly, but we never saw a white duck until after he was born and I swear this is the only one in all of the 15-20 ponds in our neighborhood! Sometimes we see him (her?) by himself, but on this day he was chillin' with other ducks and geese. I almost always see him when Connor and I are together!

We did not, however, see one of these! This is a "mud puppy" that my dad caught while ICE FISHING (yes, still!) at a lake near them in NY Apparently it is a type of salamander that lives underwater...you can kind of see its gills that are on the outside of its neck...and the little hands and feet! Strange - I wished Connor got to see it, but dad had mom take it to her classroom and then released it back into the lake. Something you don't see every day!
